Basket Weaving / Gwehyddu Basged Exploring Foraged Fibres

Dates: 26th and 27th September 2026

Times: 9.00am to 12.30pm

Cost: £30 per person per session

Location: Llangoed Village Hall, Llangoed, Anglesey LL58 8NY

The focus of these two sessions is to ‘play’ with a variety of soft fibres which have been gathered locally between Spring and Summer to make a small soft fibre basket. On the Saturday morning, you will learn which soft fibres can be harvested locally as well as exploring the techniques of making cordage, braiding/plaiting, coiling and weaving. The Sunday session will be focused on making a small basket using one of the traditional basketry techniques learned from the previous session.

All materials and tools are provided.

Please note: Weaving with willow can be tough on the hands and requires some strength so is unsuitable for those with arthritis or other hand conditions.

Basket Weaving / Gwehyddu Basged Catalan Bag with Leather Strap

Cost: £95 per person

Location: Llangoed Village Hall, Llangoed, Anglesey LL58 8NY

On this one day course you will learn how to make a willow bag using the Catalan weaving technique for the base, two weaving techniques to weave the sides before finishing the bag with leather handles and a simple trac border.

This course is suitable for those with some experience working with willow but is not essential.

All materials and tools are provided.

Tea, Coffee and Biscuits will be provided throughout the day, but you will need to bring your own packed lunch.
